VALLEY ROAD FIRE FIELD TRIP
 June 21, 2006

On the Summer Solstice, BWCC led an outing through the Valley Road fire burn with Stanley Ranger Joe Harper as our guest.

The hillside above the Champion Creek trailhead off Fourth of July road had burned hot, about 1000 degrees.

Joe told us about fire ecology as we hiked to the Milky Creek ridge and wide views of the White Cloud foothills and the Sawtooths. Reporters from the Mt. Express and Idaho Statesman were along and ran front page stories of what we saw that day. We also found some morels!
